Music
One of my other passions is writing music. My influences lie in the singer-songwriters I listened to and loved from an early age such as Cat Stevens, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, Elton John, Tori Amos, John Martyn, George Michael & Queen. Newer artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Luke Toms, Ben Folds, Guillemots & Regina Spektor now feature heavily on my iPod!
Below you will find recordings of some of the hundreds of songs I have written - more will be posted as and when money starts to grow on tree or studios become a free place to be!
In Hollywood
The following tracks are demos from a musical I am writing called In Hollywood. The story focusses on a woman's dream to become a professional actor and the obstacles that lie in her pursuit of that dream.
All tracks (except The Way) are sung by Louisa Revolta, a jazz musician from Winchester, UK. She also plays saxophone on many of the songs. The demos were recorded at EQ Studios in London and produced by John Hamilton. Other contributing musicians are Louisa's brother, Doug Revolta (backups and bass in Moving on) and Rick Norton(piano on Sonnet# 18). The Way was sung by Phil Ryan, who also provided guitar atmosphere. Chris Barlow perfoms vocals and back-ups on Home again.
White Light
White Light is a mix of songs written over a period of several years in my spare time. Featuring a variety of musicians and vocalists, the album contains a wide variety of styles from tocuhing ballads all the way to a good old cockney knees up. Artists beside me on the album include: Rick Norton (piano & vocals), Simon Binney (vocals), James Lucas (guitar & vocals), Mattt Leathes (guitar), Will Mason (vocals & guitar), Julie Burridge (vocals), Diane Gow (vocals), Anne Hamilton (vocals), Christian Francis (vocals) & Ffion Wilkins (vocals).
Various
Below is a collection of songs that I have recorded outside of his project work, including instrumental pieces and a song I wrote for my first child.
